The province of San Luis has formally joined the Argentine Climate Action Alliance (AACA) through the signing of the Declaratory Statement during the 113th Assembly of the Federal Environment Council (COFEMA), held at the Casa de San Luis in Buenos Aires. The meeting brought together national authorities and representatives from 22 jurisdictions across the country, reaffirming its role as one of the key spaces for coordinating environmental policy at the federal level.

The declaration was signed by Federico Javier Cacace, Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development of San Luis, and Diego Sueiras, President of the Nueva Generación Argentina Foundation (FNGA), on behalf of AACA’s Executive Board. The event also featured the participation of Fernando Brom, National Undersecretary for the Environment, who opened the assembly alongside provincial officials.

Throughout the day, delegations presented progress and priorities in climate policy, financing, environmental education, biodiversity, and waste management. The exchange helped advance a shared agenda for the coming years, with a strong focus on strengthening coordination among jurisdictions and improving the implementation of environmental public policies.

Key topics included the update of the National Climate Information System, considered essential for informed decision-making, along with progress on the National Biodiversity Strategy, the draft ENGIRSU, and the State of the Environment Report. These instruments provide the foundation for assessing and planning mitigation and adaptation measures nationwide.

The incorporation of San Luis into AACA reinforces the development of a truly federal and collaborative climate agenda, expanding joint work among subnational governments, civil society organizations, and actors from the productive sector. With this new addition, the Alliance continues to strengthen its presence across the country, promoting initiatives that integrate climate action, sustainable development, and inter-institutional cooperation.
